Natural Detox Methods

With this cold front that suddenly came in, I'm yearning for spring! Things are about to warm up and that means spring cleaning. Not just your house, but what about your body? Winter may have you curled up inside, sometimes battling the cold or flu, or the pollen is out and your allergies are starting to act up again. Spring cleaning for your body it is!

To sustain life, your body needs food, water, and air, but just as equally, it needs to eliminate waste.

You don't want the garbage piling up in your body!

1. DRINK WATER

Flush out the toxins from your kidneys and digestive system. Add some lemon, lime or other fruit to add some flavor!

2. SWEAT IT OUT

Whether it is exercising or sitting in a sauna or steam room, your pores will open up and release toxins.

3. DETOX SMOOTHIE

Smoothies are packed with nutrients, especially green ones. It is a quick and easy way to get in your vegetables and fruits, while still maintaining the fiber. The fruits and vegetables provide antioxidants and vitamins, along with fiber to keep your bowels in top shape. Add in 2 tablespoons of ground flax seed for fiber and hormonal balancing benefits.

4. DRY BRUSHING

Scrub-a-dub-dub! Dry brushing is essential when you are doing a detox. This practice boosts circulation, sweeps away dead skin cells, stimulates the lymph nodes, improves digestion, improves the appearance of cellulite, and helps the body remove waste. If the lymphatic system is congested, toxins build-up, causing inflammation and illness.

5. DETOX BATH

The magnesium from the epsom salt draws out toxins, and improves muscle relaxation and sleep.

6. PROBIOTICS

Get your gut in check! Decreases gut inflammation and keeps your bowels moving.

7. SLEEP

Let your body and mind rest and reset! It is one of the most basic foundations of health. Lack of sleep increases inflammation, which leads to all kinds of diseases.

8. DEEP BREATHING

Release suppressed emotions. The most common emotions we hold on to are negative ones - stress, fear, trauma, regret, anger, or sadness. Illness is a blockage - it may be physical, emotional or spiritual, or all three. Deep breathing can help release emotions and reduce stress.
